Japanese traditional cuisine “oseti”

What is oseti

Happy new year everyone and 2024 starting.

Today I would like to introduce what almost Japanese eat on new year’s day.

Oseti is Japanese traditional cuisine for new year celebration , started in 12th century. Originally it was ritual cuisine of animism – shinto-ism around BC10-3C and applied to ritual events of emperor and to crowd in 10-12C “Nara – Heian Period”.

Each dish has each hope for new year as each natural component has each god in Japanese animalism. There are few explanations of typical oseti menu below.

I really hope more you understand Japanese culture , more you enjoy your trip to japan.
